Last June the Royal Navy commissioned a Son et Lumière display to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the battle of Trafalgar. It was to be one of the largest displays ever to be seen in the UK. Kimbolton Fireworks were employed by Mice International, the event company responsible for delivering the Son et Lumière and International Drumhead Ceremony the following day. Darryl Fleming will discuss the complex logistics of organising this event as well as the problems of addressing it to an audience spread far and wide, including The Queen, who was four miles away on HMS Invincible.
