Weather Disrupts Second Night of the British Firework Championships

The British Summer got the best of the British Firework Championships as competitors on the second night of the competition had more to contend with than simply their rivals as wind and rain pounded Plymouth Sound.

In spite of it all, with thousands gathered to watch the displays the teams valiantly carried on firing to entertain the crowds.

Due to the extreme inclement weather and in the interest of fairness, the decision has been taken not to award a winner for this year's event. Initial plans are to hold a re-match of the Champion of Champions next year and we hope that all of the teams who took part this year will be able to compete again next year.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the thousands of spectators who braved the conditions and we offer a special word of gratitude to the officials and teams who kept the show on the road.
