The following are the scores and judges’ comments from British Firework Championships 2026.
Scores explained.
The judges were askeåd to score the teams based on selected criteria and each judge then ranked the teams from 1 to 6 (first to last) in line with their scores. To reach a final result, points were awarded accordingly (1 point for 6th, 2 points for 5th and so on). The points from the three lay judges were averaged for each team and added to the points from the three professional judges.

- A good clean display which had very good symmetry, a good flow as per their show statement. Well controlled display
- The opening theme was well presented with the four seasons distinctive and creatively presented. The other themes less well identifiable. The range of effects, the combinations and the knowledge of the effects. Good gold to cracking finale, beautifully paced. The pace and overall entertainment were well crafted and all effects were given good space and beautiful supportive effects.
- Strong use of aerial real estate: good combinations of product at all altitudes; also good use of depth – close proximity sequences were very impactful. Creative, well-paced, good colour constellations and a beautiful finale.
Lay Judges Comments
- Really enjoyed the theme interpretation – particularly the flower festival with the green stems. The fireworks that skimmed off the water were great. Brilliant, really big display to bump up the ‘wow’ factor.
- Interpretation of theme good especially Spring, Summer and Autumn. Section 2, although spectacular, was not easy to separate the various elements. Finale was very good.
- Display matched description. Thought about being in Plymouth water and waves was nice mix of quiet and loud. Some people may not have been able to enjoy the low displays. Finale was very good, nice symmetry.

- A good display overall but I think there was too much produce over-topping causing product to not breathe.
- The season theme was beautifully presented. Had some beautiful quality and combination, wonderful quality product. The use of single shots were thoughtful and the rotation effects were interesting. The colour smoke was beautiful. The gold fountains below the sequences worked. Not sufficient pace variation and too crowded.
- Almost too much product! Overall, this show needed more time to breathe in between sequences. Strong low-level sequences – good mix of clean graphical sequences countered with a good variety of product and colour combination. Dramatic ‘season’ sequence was strong, but the free-style sections seemed to lose their way
Lay Judges Comments
- Thought the use of colour was really nice – particularly during the seasons sequence. Rhythm felt off – too much happening at the same time. Loudest fireworks I’ve ever heard – bumped up the wow factor.
- The seasoned interpretation was not as good and difficult to see the transitions between the seasons. The variety of colours was good with good variation of colour intensity. The finale was good
- Used large display area. Lacked symmetry in some sections not a calm display in parts. Exceptionally loud, all about the noise. Finale – faded in colour

Professional Judges Comments
- So many mistakes in symmetry, shell in wrong sequence, too much use of gold, too much sky.
- Considerable amount of errors. Some nice rhythm in single shots. Not good definition or well-designed sequences. Poor rhythm and repetitive. Palm sequence was beautiful but despite good moments like this the mistakes let it down.
- Too much reliance on the colour gold! The reality of the display did not live up to the written creative overview. There were moments of visual beauty – a gold and purple sequence; and a strong display finale sequence. Mistakes in the firing were evident throughout.
Lay Judges Comments
- Didn’t get any ‘winter’ vibes from the first segment. Really strong start, rather than easing into it. Really strong ending too but didn’t feel anything special
- Theme interpretation was present. Colours were good and display build up gradually to a good finale.
- Nice elements of calm missed with noise and vibrant displays. Softer colours, but elements of colour at time. Finale end very nice – audience loud cheer. Colours seemed limited.

Professional Judges Comments
- A good show, too much use of red and gold. Clean and symmetrical, an okay display.
- Some beautiful tableaux of effects. Great colours. Colours and glitter combinations, such as a blue surfaced with gold waterfall. Great finale. The low level sequences were sometimes ponderous and repetitive. Overall the show had some power. Brilliant volley tableaux. Not sufficient variation of pace and spatial variation.
- Lovely opening: pretty, well-paced. Strong sequences with integrated and overlapping patterns and colours. Powerful imagery at all levels – low, mid-height and high level. A little bit repetitive in places. Good finale. Very solid
Lay Judges Comments
- Loved it. Great mix of colours, different heights, great rhythm. Felt good – amazing. Held my attention better than the others.
- Not sure about theme interpretation but the variety was very good with a good use of colour. The show built up to a good crescendo.
- Calm and noise – good mix. Flowed really well, great finale, symmetrical – cheers- audience loved it. Timing was good, lovely sequences.

Professional Judges Comments
- A very good display - top show.
- Brilliant show – beautiful use of space. Great colour combination. Pink and gold sequence, the waterfall sequence, the multicolour use was stunning. Stunning wide finale – rhythm and pace perfect
- Beautifully paced. Every sequence was delivered with confidence – really strong use of colours – single and multiple and each sequence stood on its own merit. Lovely introduction of orange as a colour. Shape, height and intensity of the finale was absolutely stunning.
Lay Judges Comments
- Great variety in style and colour. Brilliant height. Amazing finale. 100% my winner
- Start with the blue was impressive. There was a good variety of sequences with a good use of height. The colours were also good. Overall, an impressive display
- Spring element lovely, cluttered in some sections and looked like some randoms. Some nice colour bits. Lovely glitter fountains.
The Fireworkers
Professional Judges Comments
- A great show, well spread out. Very entertaining throughout. A good design, display and a good use of colour.
- Some very good low-level comet patterns. Much better use of space – good knowledge. good rhythm and pace. Some mistakes, poorer heart shells than others. Some very vivid colours and large quality shells.
- Really strong lower-level patterns throughout the show. Beautiful graphical images layered with strong effect. Sequences transitioned well. Lovely opening and strong finale.
Lay Judges Comments
- Autumn section felt too heavy on the gold, as did the second section. Enjoyed it though, particularly how wide it went. Felt a little bit chaotic in places, but really enjoyed the finale
- Although a single season not convinced that it really demonstrated Autumn. The display had a good variety of colour and on the whole was symmetrical.
- Some nice elements – appeared to have randoms in selections that seemed odd. Could link some of the wording to the description.Good city tribute, fan spray was nice. Finale was good
